For the past six years, SERCAAL has brought together
students from throughout the Southeast as well as across the entire
nation to explore the Asian American identity and to inspire attendees
to be leaders in their communities. Established by a group of
University of Florida students in 2004, SERCAAL has grown to be on of
the premier ethnic-interest collegiate conferences in the Southeast
region providing an outlet for social/professional career networking,
keynote speeches, captivating entertainment, and hands-on educational
workshops.
Our mission is to develop cognizance of issues pertaining to our generation in the community today and to prepare students to take initiative. With this, SERCAAL was developed and established for Asian Pacific Island American (APIA) college students in the southeast region of the United States and aspires to unite the philosophies of active well-connected student leaders, elected officials, established mentors and educators, business leaders, activists, and a variety of other APIA pioneers to nurture education, advocacy, and accomplish.
SERCAAL is for any student interested in Asian American issues and/or any student interested in networking with students from other schools across the nation. This conference is most definitely not limited to those in the southeast region of the United States. We respect all races/ethnicities, religions, sexual orientation, socioeconomic statues, and disability. We welcome all!
With this year's theme "Motion 3D:
Discover. Define. Develop." out mission is to develop cognizance of
issues pertaining to our generation in the community today and to
prepare students to take initiative.
Past
themes include: "Turn It Up:
Educate, Expand, Empower," "Ignite the Evolution Within," and
"Generation Y: Asking Why, Acting Now."
SERCAAL is a non-profit student lead
("for students by students") conference in that we do not receive
funding from the University of Florida, Dean of Students Office, nor
Student Government. This year's conference will present itself on
October 22nd through October 23rd at the University of Florida campus.
